Michael Nerney is a consultant in Substance Abuse Prevention and Education, with over twenty-four years experience in the field. As a teacher, coach and the former Director of the Training Institute of Narcotic and Drug Research, Inc. (NDRI), Mr. Nerney has created and designed prevention programs nationwide. His presentation will include a discussion of adolescent brain chemistry and research on the effects of alcohol and drug use in teens. Mr. Nerney will outline specific, proactive steps, which parents can take to approach risky behavior and to build a clear line of communication with their teen. This is an extremely valuable program for parents and is part of a series of educational programs being provided to students in grades 7-12, faculty and parents in a community-wide partnership amongst the public and private schools of Marblehead.

Michael Nerney will return to provide a Pre-Prom program in preparation for the Junior and Senior Proms at Marblehead High School. All students attending the Prom are required to attend with a parent/guardian.
